The G-1 leather Flight Jacket is the U.S. Navy's version of the U.S. Air Force A-2. It features a mouton collar and a different patch pocket setup than the A-2. The U.S. Navy had a very strong arial arm which famously operated in the Pacific theatre where amazing aircrafts like the Vought Corsair, SBD Dauntless and the Hellcat fought against the Japanese. The G-1 was also worn a lot in Vietnam and has been issued well into the 1990s. This is our first and only G-1 with hand painted 'nose-art' on the back. The tradition of painting a good looking lady on the nose of your plane was something that the U.S. Air Force introduced to Europe. The Brits were a bit to decent for this, but those Janks did it all the time! Soon the art also appeared on the back of the flight jackets of a crew, bonding them to their plane and as team in general. These hand painted flight jackets are very rare, especially when they are done right like this one. The jacket is in great shape in general with a nice white lining and deep dark brown collar. A truly unique piece that will turn heads your way!
