B-29 Superfortress Model

Curated Mantiques Collection

This is an original so called recognition model used to train air crews at recognizing themselves with the various angles of planes. It has a great bit of patina to it an we have mounted it on a display to do it justice. The B-29 is a very well know plane in the history of aviation. A very expensive project to realize for the Americans, the plane featured novelties like a pressurize cabin, one gunner who could operate four turrets simultaneously and so on. It flew in the Second World War and quite long after. The most famous B-29 was of course the Anola Gay which dropped to first atomic bomb on Hiroshima on august 6th 1945.
